Therapeutic Endeavors October 2026 Newsletter

Introduction

Hello Therapeutic Endeavor families and welcome to October! As the weather begins to cool and leaves start to change, the new month brings new opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. We are excited to share this months updates, tips, and activities designed to keep you informed and support your child’s communication development at home.

Thank you for being apart of the Therapeutic Endeavor family and we are excited to continue growing together this fall!

October is International Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Awareness Month, which promotes awareness about communication devices and other non-spoken methods of communication. The recognition of this month worldwide has made it easier to implement AAC support in public spaces like schools and helps others recognize the benefits of AAC on language development. Happy AAC Awareness Month!

One way to support your child’s speech development is to read together. Reading to your child can help expose them to new vocabulary and sentences that they do not usually hear in their normal day-to-day interactions. Making reading a part of your daily routine is a great way to expand their communication and bond with your child!

Take a small pot, your “cauldron”, and fill it with Halloween themed items. You can use cotton balls as “ghosts”, plastic spiders, toy bats, and other “spooky” items you have around the house. Have your child pull an item out of the cauldron and describe their item by using at least 3 words. This will help your child build their descriptive vocabulary and encourages them to use more detailed language. You can up the difficulty for older kids with a wider vocabulary by having them name 4 words or create a complete sentence about their item.

Wrapping Up October

As October comes to a close, we want to thank our Therapeutic Endeavor families for continuing to support and encourage your child’s communication journey. We hope this month has brought plenty of opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection!

Remember, some of the best speech and language practice can happen during everyday moments: while playing, reading, cooking, or celebrating together. Every conversation is an opportunity to learn and grow!

Wishing all of our Therapeutic Endeavor families a safe, happy, and fun-filled Halloween! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful growth November brings!
